In Definitions, "Play" is defined as:  "The time after the Pull has commenced and prior to the scoring of a goal."

By 8.1.1, however, Play is "dead" after the start of a point, until the pull is released.

The two are contradictory: the time from the scoring of a goal till the pull is released cannot be both:
(a) a type of Play (per 8.1.1)
-and-
(b) NOT Play (per Definitions)

Thanks - I have made a note for future updates (not sure what I will actually do to resolve it though!)

Thanks, Rueben! I'm not sure, either :)

When you have that conversation for how to fix, beware of things like 8.3 (the thrower may not transfer possession of the disc during dead play to another player), which, taken with 8.1.1 makes it seem like the person who just caught a goal can't hand the disc to anyone.
