Hi team, I'm curious why the choice was made to remove the requirement for a defender to call "Disc In" when restarting play? I don't understand why something that aids communication would be removed, as it also makes it inconsistent with the other two scenarios (no defender in reach, or disc on ground).
The main reason was to align with USAU.
This was seen a better rule because it makes it so that play restarts on only 1 action, the touch, which removes ambiguity.
Also the old rules allowed play to restart on "Stalling", which will still be said if the marker wants to put on a stall count.
We also plan to add an official recommendation of how to restart play (eg 3,2,1 disc in) but we don't want that to be an official part of the rules as then it has to followed precisely every time, or could cause another stoppage.
